Carcoar Cup Running Festival

November 4/5, 2017

It’s hard to believe that we will be staging our SEVENTH running of the Carcoar Cup in 2017. Our event has gone from a madman’s idea to an event which attracts runners from all over Australia and even overseas. Whole families come and in 2017 we think we will have over 200 kids in the Carcoar Cup for Kids. They make a weekend of it, staying in this fantastic region (please contact us if you need any help with accommodation 02 6367 3290), coming to the great Pasta Night on Saturday night to rub shoulders with other runners and their families. On the day in Carcoar and Neville all runners are recognised for their efforts – everybody gets a beautiful medal, there is a pace and a time for all runners – not all of us have the Harry Summers or Angela Bateup afterburners after all.

The Carcoar Cup experience is one that people who have become friends revisit year after year, and that those who will be friends are entering for the first time. This is one of the greatest and most beautiful courses in Australia. We have put in a huge amount of effort to make it a challenging and enjoyable festival for you all, so please come and join us.

Carcoar Show 2017

The “Best Little Show in the Country” is being held on Saturday 28 October next in the historical village of Carcoar in the central west of NSW.

  • Unbelievably, this will be the 140th Carcoar Show, a testament to the enduring quality of the event!*
There will be 5 horse rings operating including one for Heavy Horses, a magnificent display is expected. The Bush Band, November Shorn will be playing adjacent to the Bar, and Angullong wine as well as beer is being served.
Lots of entertainment and competitions. See the Old Kentucky Mobile Animal Farm as well as Murphy’s Puppets, Working Dog competition, Sports Shear and Woolhandling, Cattle and Paraders, Prime Lambs, Wood Chop, Antique Machinery and Vintage Car displays. Great competitions in the Pavilion, especially the Home Products where the Feature Cake this year is an Orange Poppy Seed (recipe in the schedule) while the Blokes Chocolate Cake is also keenly contested. Both carry a prize money of $150 each.
Official Opening at 1pm by World Champion Fullbore Rifle Shooter, Ben Emms of Lyndhurst. Ben secured his title in USA this month, after gruelling competition over 800/900 and 1000 yard ranges.
The Horse Schedule will be online shortly as well as more details of other competitions. This is one of the last opportunities for horses and riders to gain points towards RAS Sydney Show.
